K-5th Grade
Sunday School:
Sunday School is offered for all ages at 9:15am each Sunday during the program year (the Sunday after Labor Day through the Sunday before Father’s Day).Sunday School teachers are volunteers from our congregation that give their time and love to the children each Sunday. The teachers build relationships with the children as they teach them the bible stories and model Christ’s love for them through unconditional acceptance, patience, teaching, reproof, and loving-kindness.
The 4-K class meets in Room 114, 1st grade in Room 116, 2nd & 3rd Grades in Room 17, and 4th & 5th Grades in Room 10.
Children in 3rd Grade and under must be picked up from Sunday School by a parent or older sibling. Children 4th Grade and older may be dismissed from Sunday School without parents being present.
During Worship:
Children age 4 through 2nd grade are invited to join their parents for the beginning of worship in the sanctuary. Following the Time For Children, the ushers will escort these children downstairs to Young Children & Worship in Room 15.
Young Children & Worship is a unique worship opportunity for youth ages 4 through 2nd grade. Following the Time for Children in the sanctuary the children are invited to participate in worship in a specially prepared space under the leadership of trained volunteer storytellers. The intention is to assist the youth in developing positive worship habits as they gather, sing praise, listen to Bible stories, reflect and respond during a “work time”. As they wonder about and talk with God our hope is that they will, indeed, grow deeper in faith and be enabled to reach farther in love.
Please note: Young Children and Worship dismisses from Room 15 at 11:45 or when upstairs worship is over, whichever is later. Children must be picked up by a parent or older sibling.
Each September, children in 3rd Grade meet with their parents and the Co-Pastors to prepare to Join the Lord’s Table. On the first Sunday in October, 3rd graders are welcomed to upstairs worship and partake in communion for the first time.
Children in 3rd Grade and up are invited to “regular” worship in the Sanctuary. Materials (storybook bibles, coloring and activity pages, etc.) are available in the back of the sanctuary for middle elementary students to help them transition into worshiping in the sanctuary.
Music and Recreation, Celtic Choir:
Music & Rec is for children in grades 2-5 and meets every Wednesday during the program year from 4:30-5:45 pm. The program starts with about 30 minutes of games, followed by sharing Joys and Concerns, a snack, then Celtic Choir rehearsal until 5:45. The Celtic Choir (2nd-5th grade) generally sings the anthem in worship on the 3rd Sunday of each month but this is sometimes adjusted for holidays.
