Rev. Carter Lester, Co-Pastor

Carter, a native of North Carolina, is a graduate of Duke University, University of Virginia Law School, and Union-PSCE in Richmond, Virginia. He met Kerry in college as they worked together in a youth ministry to high school students. After doing a “Volunteer-in-Mission” year through the Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis, Carter practiced law for five years in Baltimore, before responding to a call to enter the ministry. He then joined Kerry as co-associate pastor of a downtown congregation in Richmond before coming to Pottstown. He completed his Doctor of Ministry at McCormick Seminary in 1999, and he has served since then on several occasions as adjunct faculty in McCormick’s D. Min. program

Carter is always ready to watch college basketball, especially when it comes to the Duke Blue Devils. He also enjoys gardening, tennis, cycling, and reading. But his biggest hobby these days is spending time with family, which has grown to include three daughters, two sons-in-law, and two grandchildren.

Rev. Kerry Pidcock-Lester, Co-Pastor

A native of Allentown, Pa, Kerry headed south to Duke University for college, and then surprised herself by going to Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond. After a PCUSA Young Adult Volunteer year with Carter, she served urban congregations in Baltimore, Md., and Richmond, Va. as an associate pastor before coming to FPC Pottstown as co-pastor. The earnest, willing and playful spirit of the saints in Pottstown has continuously kindled her interest and gratitude since 1994, and often refreshed and fueled her faith.

Kerry has been a contributing writer to Feasting on the Word, Feasting on the Gospel, “Interpretation: Journal of Bible and Theology,” and “Christian Century” magazine, and has served on various community boards such as the Pottstown Health and Wellness Foundation, the Pottstown Regional Public Library, and the TriCounty YWCA.

With Carter, Kerry is the parent of three grown daughters. What gives her pleasure? Singing, and long walks in beautiful places near and far, reading by the fire, playing the piano–not publicly, binging a good tv show– preferably set in another century, supper on the porch with friends and family, and being “G” to two enthralling munchkins.
